LANSING—Sen. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, received the 2014 Healthcare Worker Safety Award on March 18 from the International Sharps Injury Prevention Society and StaffandPatientSafety.org for her work promoting staff and patient safety in health care.
Dr. Michael Sinnott, co-founder of StaffAndPatientSafety.org, (left) and David W. Baetens, director of marketing for OakMed Products in Clarkston, presented the award to Emmons for co-sponsoring resolutions to promote a culture of safety for health care workers and patients.
“The health and safety of patients and their caregivers are of the utmost importance,” Emmons said. “It is an honor to be recognized for standing up for our health care workers, who work tirelessly to keep us healthy. I also want to commend these organizations for their dedication to creating a safe environment for both patients and health care providers.”
