LANSING—Sen. John Proos on Tuesday encouraged residents to nominate members of the local clergy to deliver the Senate invocation and to join him in attending a church breakfast.
“Several times a year, I have the opportunity to invite a member of the local clergy to deliver the official invocation to the Senate,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “It is truly an honor to show the state of Michigan the outstanding religious leadership that Southwest Michigan has to offer. If your church has a pastor, priest or minister that goes above and beyond their call of duty for the benefit of others, please nominate them to share their passion with the Senate.”
Proos also encouraged residents to attend a local church breakfast in the area and to invite the senator to an upcoming event for their church.
“Attending a church breakfast is a wonderful way to support local religious institutions and their work, help our community and listen to the people,” Proos said.
Proos recently attended a church breakfast at Scottdale United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.
On Sunday, Sept. 14, Proos will be at the St. Joseph Knights of Columbus pancake, eggs, and sausage breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The breakfast takes place the second Sunday of every month at the Lake Michigan Catholic High School cafeteria, 915 Pleasant Street in St. Joseph.
Residents may nominate a local pastor, priest or minister or invite Proos to a local church breakfast by contacting Proos’ office at 1-517-373-6960 or email@example.com.
