LANSING, Mich.— Sen. Mike Nofs today introduced a set of bills that would allow a chiropractor to be reimbursed for services within current chiropractic scope of care if the same services are eligible for reimbursement when performed by another health care provider.
Nofs, R-Battle Creek, said that under current law, any services performed that were not within the chiropractic scope of care as of Jan. 1, 2009 are not eligible for reimbursement, even if the service is eligible for reimbursement when performed by another health care provider.
“This is an issue of fairness,” Nofs said. “If the service is covered when performed by one provider, it should be covered when performed by all trained and authorized. This allows for more options and fewer hassles for patients in seeking treatment for their health care needs.”
