“A good day for investment in Battle Creek and Michigan”
LANSING, Mich.— Sen. Mike Nofs praised Wednesday’s announcement by the Michigan Strategic Fund of 14 business expansions that will result in the investment of more than $1.1 billion and the creation of 4,590 new jobs in Michigan.
The news includes $267 million in investment in Battle Creek alone with announcements by Denso Manufacturing Michigan and Cosma International, which will result in the creation of 266 jobs and 572 jobs, respectively.
“This is terrific news for Battle Creek and the state of Michigan,” said Nofs, R-Battle Creek. “As part of my ‘Jobs First, Jobs Now’ pledge, I have worked extremely hard with my colleagues in the Legislature to reform our tax and regulatory climate in Michigan so that we are better able to compete for new jobs and investment. I’m glad to see these efforts are starting to pay off.”
Nofs noted that in both cases, Battle Creek and Michigan won out over competing sites in other states.
“Clearly, employers are taking note of the changes we’ve made and weighing those against what other states are offering. It’s nice to once again be on the winning side of these battles.”
