Michigan Strategic Fund awards Newell Rubbermaid Business Development grant
LANSING, Mich.—Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker congratulated Newell Rubbermaid, Inc. for receiving a Michigan Strategic Fund Business Development Grant.
The company plans to build a new state-of-the-art design center in the city of Kalamazoo that will consolidate all of its U.S. product and graphic design capabilities. The company plans to invest $2.3 million and create 100 design jobs, resulting in a $2 million Michigan Business Development performance-based grant.
“Hearing that the MSF will award Newell Rubbermaid a Business Development grant was excellent news for both my district and the state of Michigan,”said Schuitmaker, R-Lawton. “This is further proof that Michigan, through the efforts of Governor Snyder and the Legislature, is open for business.”
Newell Rubbermaid is a global marketer of consumer and commercial products with a portfolio of brands that include Sharpie, Rubbermaid, Graco, Calphalon, Paper Mate, and Irwin.
