LANSING—State Sen. Jim Marleau, R-Lake Orion, (right) welcomes Iraqi Congressman Younadam Kanna to the state Capitol on Tuesday.
Congressman Kanna was Marleau’s guest for Senate session and is in the United States by invitation from the U.S. government.
Kanna has been an Iraqi Congressman since 2003 after the liberation of the nation by the U.S., and he is a former member of the opposition group against Saddam Hussein. He is also the general secretary of the Assyrian Democratic movement and chairman of the Social and Working committee in the Iraq Congress.
