LANSING, Mich.—State Sen. Mike Green, R-Mayville, issued the following statement Thursday after voting no on Senate Bill 569, which appropriates $25 million to film production in Michigan.
“Michigan workers, families and business owners are struggling during these difficult economic times, but there are real promising signs that Michigan is headed in the right direction. With Governor Snyder’s support, we’ve passed bold reforms this year to make Michigan a good place to do business and attract good-paying jobs back to our state. Giving taxpayer dollars to one specialized industry at the expense of job creators already here is a misstep, which is why I voted against this bill. Let’s continue our excellent record of reform without picking winners and losers.”
