LANSING—Sen. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, welcomed former VFW State Commander Eric Halvorsen (right) to the state Capitol on Thursday as her guest for the Michigan Senate’s 20th Annual Memorial Day Service, honoring Michigan residents killed in action protecting America.
Before the ceremony, Halvorsen, of Sheridan, joined Emmons as Gov. Rick Snyder (seated) signed her bill allowing schools to award high school diplomas to honorably discharged veterans of the Vietnam War.
