LANSING –- Senator Darwin Booher, R-Evart, will chair the Senate Banking & Financial Institutions Committee for the 96th Legislature.
“Access to credit is critical for small businesses that create more than 70 percent of Michigan jobs. It is an honor to lead such an important committee,” Booher said. “I am pleased to also serve in a leadership role as assistant majority caucus whip. I will use my more than 40 years of experience as a banker in the private sector to help revitalize our economy by enabling entrepreneurs and families to achieve the dream of building a business and owning a house.”
Booher will serve as vice chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee and as a member of the important Senate Appropriations Committee, where he will chair the Community Colleges and Capital Outlay subcommittees.
“Michigan must remain a friend of agriculture. As vice chair, I will work with our second largest industry to help them continue to thrive and create jobs,” said Booher. “I look forward to working with a new governor on reinventing Michigan. It is an honor to be part of a new leadership team that will reenergize our economy by cutting wasteful spending and eliminating unnecessary regulations.”
Booher will also serve on the Senate Fiscal Agency board of governors and the Appropriations subcommittees for the departments of Community Health, Natural Resources and Environmental Quality.
