Area legislators to host town hall on road funding proposal

Shirkey200x300LANSING, Mich.—State Sen. Mike Shirkey and Rep. Earl Poleski are hosting a free, public town hall featuring Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Director Kirk Steudle on Monday, March 9 in Jackson about the May statewide road funding ballot proposal.

Shirkey and Poleski are encouraging residents of Jackson County interested in the road funding issue to attend the meeting and hear Steudle discuss the ballot initiative coming before voters in May.

“Our goal is to give voters every opportunity to learn about the content of this proposal,” said Shirkey, R-Clarklake. “This event in Jackson, with Director of MDOT Kirk Steudle speaking, will allow folks to hear more about the ins and outs of this important issue.

“Your vote this May will determine the outcome of road funding in Michigan.’”

The town hall will be held on Monday, March 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the County Commission Chambers on the 5th Floor of the Jackson County Tower Building, 120 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson.

“There is a lot floating around out there regarding this proposal,” said Poleski, R-Jackson. “I encourage Jackson County residents to attend these meetings to have their questions answered.”

The event is free to attend, providing voters with the information they need to cast their vote this May.
